Huntsville Memorial Hospital
Huntsville Memorial Hospital (HMH) is a Joint Commission-accredited, not-for-profit acute care community hospital located in Huntsville, Texas. The hospital’s Level IV Trauma Center is led by board-certified Emergency Physicians and Certified Nurses (R.N.s) and serves Walker County and surrounding communities 24/7 for acute illness, injury and trauma. The HMH Emergency Department also offers state-of-the-art laboratory, radiology, and cardiopulmonary equipment and services.
Keeping skills and procedures proficient and current is a way of life at HMH, whether in the Emergency Department (ED) or back office. So when a review of the ED data revealed room for improvement in its financial performance, the staff set to work to find a more efficient way of doing things.
The staff examined both internal and external options, and then settled on 1stHealthSystems’ StealthED, a data-driven Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that offered clear benefits over the competition. Among these:
Flexible workflow. StealthED allowed visit levels to be batch-processed post-visit by HIM or billing, or assigned point-of-service by ED staff.
Instant benefits. The hosted solution allowed the hospital to start reaping benefits on day one.
Quantifiable results. Accurately forecasting the expected results was easy thanks to the data-driven-approach.
Implementing StealthED helped HMH achieve all its objectives and then some. The hospital was able to successfully transfer the visit level assignment process to the ED staff by capturing the appropriate data at point-of-service. And the financial return on investment exceeded the hospital’s expectations.
